We do not bind policies, do not collect premiums, and do not provide personalized insurance advice. Everything on this site is reportorial, sourced to the carrier filings and public records cited on each page.

Every published rate is a snapshot of a carrier filing or a fresh quote pulled against a standardized driver profile, cross-checked against the carrier's current California Department of Insurance rate filing. Your individual rate will depend on your record, vehicle, ZIP code, and the carrier's underwriting, and can be higher or lower than the published range.

The Rates Guy tracks roughly 30 carriers active in California across the lanes we cover (clean record, SR-22, recent DUI, non-owner). The California market is larger than that. A carrier not on a Rates Guy page may still be the cheapest option for a given driver.

Coverage is limited to California auto insurance. Drivers outside California should consult a licensed insurance producer in their state. The Rates Guy does not cover non-California markets.

Nothing on this site constitutes legal, financial, or insurance-binding advice. For binding coverage, a California-licensed insurance carrier or producer is the appropriate authority. The Rates Guy publishes information so readers can ask sharper questions, not so they can skip the licensed conversation.
